Tipp GAA doing well both on and off the field
By Shane Brophy
Tipperary GAA’s on the field progress this year is being reflected off it with encouraging half year accounts which were presented at last Tuesday’s County Board Executive & Committee meetings in Thurles.
The figures relate from October 1st 2024 to March 31st March 2005 which showed a surplus of over €706,809, including a profit of €498,749 from the Win a House Draw fundraiser.
10,730 tickets were sold for the fundraiser, generating an income of €1.073 million. From this, the clubs share of €112,646 was deducted as they sold 3,754 of the tickets and earned €30 from each sale.
After that came the associated costs, particularly the house at Bregawn, Cashel, with the lucky winner, Stephen Dalton from Ardfinnan, taking the house worth €350,000, rather than the €300,000 cash alternative.
All the profit from the Win a House draw is ringfenced for infrastructural facilities to develop Tipperary players at all levels of hurling and football, both male and female, into the future.
The profits have been transferred to the Croke Park Bank until such time as plans to add new facilities are ready to go, set to be outlined in the new Tipperary GAA Strategic Plan to be published later in the year.
Taking away the profit from the fundraiser, Tipperary still recorded an operating surplus of €208,060, which comes about from increased income in all areas of over €800,000, including gate receipts from last years county finals in October which would have been included in these figures, seeing an increase of over €68,000 on the previous year. However, the biggest increase was in commercial revenue, up by just under €300,000 on the same period in 2023/2024.
Expenditure has also been reduced by almost €400,000, with matchday costs associated with club games down by over €40,000 while county team administration expenses fell by almost €100,000 compared to the same period the previous year.
