The margins couldn’t be finer going into Tipperary’s crucial final group game against Donegal with a place in the quarter finals of the All-Ireland Senior Ladies Football Championship at stake this Saturday.

Both teams have suffered defeat to Galway in the group, Tipp by nine points in Tuam, while Donegal weren’t able to make home advantage county in Lifford last Saturday, also falling by nine points.

With the sides pointless and also level on score difference, the margins couldn’t be tighter with Tipperary having the slight edge in that they have scored more seven (0-7 v Galway) to Donegal’s five (1-2 v Galway).

This Saturday’s game was always likely to be the key one in determining who joins the tribeswomen in progressing to the quarter finals from the group and that Tipperary have home advantage in Bansha is an advantage they need to benefit from.

Since their promotion as intermediate champions in 2019, Tipperary have failed to progress beyond the group stage, instead being part of four successive relegation dogfights but they managed to stay up on each occasion. It shows they have the mentality to dig deep when they have to and that will be needed more than ever this Saturday this Tipperary team look to break new ground.

The sides are familiar with each other having met in the National League with Donegal edging to a 0-10 to 0-7 win in Lifford, so another tight encounter is in store with a place in the last eight of the All-Ireland Championship on the line.
