The creative stars at Lissenhall NS
Winner at Our World Awards Final
The Sixth Class of Lissenhall National School have been crowned national winners of the Creative Stars Award at this year’s Our World Awards Final.
The awards ceremony was held at Dublin Castle on May 30.
Out of more than 540 entries from schools across the country, Lissenhall NS, was selected as one of 15 finalists, and ultimately they were awarded the Creative Stars Award for their project ‘Goal Getters’, which impressed judges for both its creativity and powerful message.
Their award-winning entry focused on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. The students collaborated to create a vibrant, educational activity book for children, each designing their own superhero themed around a specific SDG. Every page featured fun and thought-provoking activities aimed at helping younger readers understand global challenges such as climate action, clean water, and quality education.
The goal of the project was not just to learn, but to educate others. By using storytelling, characters, and games, the class hoped to inspire more children to engage with global issues in a way that’s both accessible and enjoyable. They successfully combined creativity with purpose with their ‘Goal Getters’ activity book.
The Our World Awards, run annually to promote global citizenship in primary schools, celebrate young people who use their voices and talents to make a difference. This year’s theme centred on the power of youth in building a better world - and Lissenhall’s Sixth Class, under the guidance of class teacher Ciara Grace, rose to the occasion.
With their superhero-themed book now gaining national attention, the students of Lissenhall NS have proven that creativity truly can be a superpower.
