Tipp firm leads the way in volunteering

Employees at MSD Ireland have collectively volunteered more than 3,000 hours during the company’s second annual All-Ireland Volunteering Week, supporting 25 community and charity organisations across the country.

At MSD Ballydine in Co Tipperary, 100 employees contributed over 500 hours to a range of local projects, working with groups such as Journeyman Day Centre, Aiséirí, PAWS, C-Saw, and St Olivers Primary School.

MSD’s All-Ireland Volunteering Week takes place annually across all its locations, with employees given dedicated time to volunteer with local causes.

These organisations provide vital support to vulnerable groups and help strengthen the local community. At the Journeyman Day Centre, MSD Ballydine volunteers helped organise activities and spend time with older adults, offering companionship and practical support. Employees worked with Aiséirí to improve outdoor spaces through gardening and maintenance, creating a welcoming environment for those accessing services. Volunteers at PAWS assisted with animal care and shelter upkeep, while with C-Saw they supported community outreach and awareness programmes. At St. Oliver’s Primary School, volunteers helped enhance playground facilities and participated in educational activities, supporting children’s learning and development.

Matt Maher, Site Lead at MSD Ballydine, said: “Giving back and actively supporting our local community is a key focus for all of us at MSD Ballydine. We’re so proud to partner with these organisations that deliver vital services and care to those who need it most across our county., we remain committed to strengthening that connection and seeking new ways to make a positive impact in our local communities. We’re proud to be part of these meaningful projects and look forward to continuing this important work.”

The national volunteering effort saw MSD employees across the country step out in force to support local charities and programmes, with time set aside during the working week to give back to their local communities and the organisations making a positive impact within them.
