Moneygall clubs benefit

Quid Game fundraiser success

Moneygall FC and Moneygall GAA wish to express our sincerest thanks to the incredible community of Moneygall, Dunkerrin, Barna, our local businesses, and everyone who played a role in making the recent Quid Games fundraiser such a spectacular and unforgettable success. Held on May 4 at the Abbey Court Hotel, and brilliantly hosted by MC Paul Collins, this event was a true celebration of community, collaboration and local pride.

With 35 amazing contestants taking to the stage - each having raised a phenomenal amount for both clubs - the energy in the room was electric. Their passion and commitment made the night what it was, and we can’t thank them enough for their dedication in the lead-up and on the night itself.

As the games progressed and the numbers whittled down, the competition reached a gripping finale between Alan Chadwick and Darragh Hayes. The final challenge saw both enter a cash-grabbing capsule to collect as much money as possible, with Darragh Hayes emerging victorious and claiming the €10,000 prize.

GENEROSITY

In a truly remarkable act of generosity, Darragh donated €7,000 of his winnings to Vision Ireland and Children’s Health Foundation Temple Street and returned the remaining €3,000 to the organising committee and clubs - a gesture that spoke volumes of his character and the spirit of the night. Thanks to the combined efforts of our contestants, supporters and sponsors, the event generated close to €100,000 in profit, which will be split equally between Moneygall FC and Moneygall GAA. These funds will be directly invested into developing club facilities, ensuring we can continue to grow, succeed, and represent Moneygall with pride at every level.

This fundraiser was a testament to what can be achieved when we come together. For two sporting clubs, traditionally seen as competitors, to unite under one fundraising banner was a deliberate and thoughtful decision. Our shared goal was to avoid competing for funds, and to minimise financial pressure on a community that has always supported us. By working together, we ensured your contributions went further - and the outcome speaks for itself.

THANKS

To the 35 contestants: you were the stars of the show. Your effort, creativity and good humour lit up the stage and reminded everyone of the strength and spirit in our parish.

To the local businesses who stood behind us - thank you. Your support was instrumental in the success of the event. We encourage everyone to shop local and support those who supported us - they’ve backed our clubs, now let’s back them.

A special word of thanks to the Abbey Court Hotel, who were exceptional hosts. From start to finish, the staff were welcoming, professional and accommodating - creating the perfect setting for an unforgettable night. We also want to give huge credit to Clubspot, whose expert event management and professionalism made this complex event run seamlessly. Their support lifted a huge weight from the organising committee and allowed everyone involved - organisers and contestants alike - to enjoy the occasion.

This event has shown, beyond doubt, the power of unity, community, and shared vision. In appreciation of your generosity, both clubs have committed to no further fundraising events in 2025 - a decision made with our community’s best interests at heart.

Thank you, Moneygall, Dunkerrin, Barna and wider community. You’ve shown us once again what makes this parish so special.

Together, we are stronger and this is just the beginning.
