Successful fundraiser for Mary’s Meals

Sophia Fanning, Ballycahill, showcased her art works at the Cabragh Wetlands, Thurles last month to raise awareness and funds for the charity, Mary's Meals. Over 40 of her paintings were sold, and together with donations raised a staggering €6,622 - 96% of which reaches the front line.

A sum of €22 feeds a child one meal a day in a place of education for an entire school year in the poorest countries in the world. Sophia’s endeavours will feed over 300 children - a truly magnificent fundraiser.

Mary’s Meals, which was founded by Magnus McFarland Barrow in 2002, is feeding 2.6 million children every day in Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean. Sophia is very grateful to everyone who helped to make her exhibition such a marvellous success. She would like to thank the committee of Cabragh Wetlands together with all her friends who helped in any way. All who attended were treated to a vibrant exhibition of paintings which was greatly enhanced by the support of her family.
