Ormond Historical Society to visit Newtown

The first Ormond Historical Society outing of the season takes place on the evening of Monday, May 26 next.

The outing is to the village of Newtown and the tour starts at 7.30pm (sharp). Our guides for the evening are Jane Quinlan and Siobhán Geraghty.

Participants should assemble outside the Catholic church where there is adequate parking. The tour will visit the main sites of interest in the village, among them the church, old school, hotel, pound, post office and pub.

The speakers will dwell on the wider landscape of the area and its past ownership. They will also recall some celebrated village families and personalities and what village life was like some decades ago.

All are invited to join us at Newtown on Monday evening, May 26, for what will be an informative and entertaining evening.
