A blooming great success!
Over €29k raised from Daffodil Day
The Daffodil Day fundraising campaign came to Ireland in 1988 with the committee of Nenagh and District Flower and Garden Club (NDFGC) hosting the first event in Nenagh the following year. Little did those ladies think that 36 years later, the amount collected would be a whopping €29,300!
This is on foot of generous donations from the people of Nenagh and Toomevara. In the long history of the local Daffodil Days, this year’s amount surpasses all others.
The spirit of generosity could be felt throughout Daffodil Day. In the heart of north Tipperary, amidst Nenagh’s busy streets and in tight-knit communities like Toomevara, there exists a quiet but powerful force for good – one that has been led for years by a remarkable group of women whose dedication and compassion have left an indelible mark: the Daffodil Day fundraising co-ordinators. These extraordinary women and their legions of loyal volunteers have braved the rain, the cold, and the challenges of fundraising to raise vital funds for cancer causes.
Armed with nothing more than their determination, warm smiles, and unwavering sense of duty, they’ve become familiar and trusted faces on the streets of Nenagh. Their efforts have not only raised substantial contributions to aid those affected by cancer but have also brought awareness, solidarity, and hope to the local community. Their collective impact is felt far beyond the coins and notes gathered in buckets. It is seen in the warm exchanges with passersby, the connections made with those affected by cancer, and the powerful example set for future fundraisers. In every step they and their teams take and every hour they give, they demonstrate that real change comes from consistent, heartfelt action.
The Nenagh and District Flower and Garden Club and its committee would like to thank the dedication of those members, past and present, who have contributed so much to Daffodil Day since 1989. We would like to thank everyone in their fundraising efforts for Daffodil Day. the many volunteers who give so freely of their time year after year, the various shops, businesses and schools. A special mention to Nenagh College who collected a fantastic sum. The Nenagh Guardian and TippFM for giving the day so much publicity, to those who supplied us fresh daffodils to tables throughout the day, the table co-ordinators and organising committee who do a tremendous job, and all the helpers on the day. But, especially to the general public in Nenagh and Toomevara sincere thanks because without your generosity we would not have raised €29,300.
