Premier League
Fairview Rangers 1-1 Nenagh AFC
Nenagh AFC caused a huge upset in the Premier League when they held Fairview Rangers in a vital game at the Fairgreen on Sunday.
The result stops Fairview from being crowned champions next Thursday when they host Ballynanty, and they will now need to beat last season’s champions Aisling Annacotty to end a 22 year wait for the title.
Fairview opted to field an understrength side and paid the price against a Nenagh side who were well worth their point. The visitors opened the scoring when Adam Ryan played a ball over the top which was volleyed first time by Dylan Morrison for a superb goal.
Fairview were back on level terms minutes later when Josh McCarthy reacted quickest to forced Danny O’Neill’s corner kick over the line.
Fionn Higgins was just off target with a sweetly struck volley while stand-in Nenagh keeper Mark McKenna was not called to make a save of note until the final minute when he kept out a Gbadebo Habideen near post shot.
Nenagh had a great chance to snatch the win at the death when the call was blocked on the line four times before being hacked to safety. Dan O’Meara and Cillian Scully both saw their goal bound efforts saved by ‘View keeper Josh McCarthy.

Division 2B - Eamon Ray Cup Final
Moyross United ‘B’ 4-2 Lough Derg
Lough Derg fell at the final hurdle in the Eamon Rea (Division 2B) Cup final on Saturday in Jackman Park, Limerick.
A huge crowd turned out in support of both sides to create an exciting affair and it was Lough Derg who took the lead after five minutes when Cian O’Donoghue put JP Mbokha Tansia in behind the Moyross defence and he kept his cool to slot the ball past the advancing keeper.
The Tipperary side’s joy was also short-lived as Moyross turned the lead over within ten minutes, both goals a carbon copy of each other with Anthony Quinn’s long range free kick’s finding the back of the net.
Moyross added another couple of goals through Barry Quinn and Anthony Quinn with his third. However, they had a man sent off just before the break.
Lough Derg gained the upper hand after the restart but the best they could do was a consolation goal when O’Donoghue’s free kick was clicked on by Sean Lyons for Alex Quinn to score.

Youths
Lough Derg dug deep to secure a 1-0 win away to Corbally United on Tuesday of last week. Eoin McCarthy has been a revelation since coming in between the sticks and after saving an early penalty he went on to make three more top class stops to keep his goal intact. The winning strike came on the half hour mark when after a good passing move involving Jack Scullane, Sean Fahy and Matthew Ryan, with Davin Smyth’s delicious back heel putting Dan Carroll in for a tidy finish.
