EV charging plan for Birdhill

Tipperary Co Council has received a planning application for an electric vehicle (EV) charging hub in Birdhill.

Applegreen Electric IRL Service Areas Ltd sought permission for a high-power EV charging hub and associated infrastructure at its motorway service area off the M7. Planned was the installation of eight electric vehicle bays and four charging points (powered by renewable energy), installation of a new canopy with associated illuminated signage, and a new modular ESB substation. Other features of the plan included associated revisions to existing parking bays, including relocation of a lighting column, landscape renewal and revised parking bay markings.

The council received the application on February 12 but has since marked it "incompleted".
