Ballina road closure for new Shannon crossing works

Tipperary County Council has made an order closing the R-496-13 from the Junction at Roolagh at R-494-0 for a 100m section from 8am on Monday, November 11, to 6pm on Sunday, December 1.

The purpose of the closure is to facilitate roundabout construction for the R494 improvements works and the new Shannon Crossing at Roolagh.

From November 11, all local traffic on the R496-13/0 travelling towards Ballina will be required to divert to the junction at Ayrestown with the R445-8 turning right for Birdhill - then divert northwards via the R494-0 towards Ballina.

All traffic from Ballina to the R496-13/0 will be diverted via the R494-0 southwards towards Birdhill and then via the R445-8 northwards towards the R496-13 junction at Ayrestown.

Diversions will be clearly signposted for traffic travelling towards Ballina.
