EGM called as leading Tipp Camogie officials resign
The Tipperary Camogie Board will have to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting (EGM) following the resignations of its chairperson and treasurer last week.

The decisions by Denis Lenihan and Aine O’Donnell respectively to stand down from their roles came after Munster Camogie stepped in to run affairs of the board for a four day period last week.
Camogie clubs in the county have been invited to a meeting with the remaining officers of Tipperary Camogie Board this Friday night, October 11th, at the Anner Hotel, Thurles where a date for the EGM will be set, with a number of other matters also to be discussed.
The Nenagh Guardian understands the decision by the provincial body to step in relates to administrative matters not dealt with adequately in recent months, particularly during a period from May to September when Tipperary did not have a secretary after Marie Corbett stepped down from the role. Mary Finn from Newport/Ballinahinch was ratified as her successor at a county board meeting last month.
However, last Wednesday, the Tipperary were informed their authority to run affairs in the county was suspended but was subsequently returned on Saturday night following a meeting between provincial officials with the outstanding members of the county executive.
In that four-day period, Munster Camogie oversaw the scheduled fixtures which included one Junior ‘B2’ championship quarter final and two under 16 county finals. Referees from outside the county were appointed to officiate the games as some of the administrative matters related to vetting, which have now been resolved. No gates were collected at the games, which is a financial loss to the county board, while the trophy presentations in the under 16 finals were made by Munster officials.
Outgoing Tipperary chairperson Denis Lenihan didn’t wish to comment on the matter. The Newport/Ballinahinch clubman was due to step down from his role anyway at the end of the year after four largely successful years in the role with Tipperary’s inter-county teams improving at all levels and finances stabilised with gate receipts and sponsorships.
Following the resolution, all of next weekend’s knockout games in the senior, intermediate, and junior championships go ahead as scheduled with Tipperary referees set to take charge once again.
