Toomevara see off Moycarkey to reach County Final
GAA: FBD Insurance Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Semi-Final
Toomevara 2-19
Moycarkey/Borris 0-20
Report: Shane Brophy at FBD Semple Stadium
Two brilliantly finished first half goals from Darragh McCarthy proved decisive as Toomevara booked their place in the Tipperary Senior Hurling Championship Final after seeing off Moycarkey/Borris on Saturday evening.
The Mid Tipperary side were the better side in the early going and led 0-10 to 0-7 on 23 minutes when McCarthy scored his first goal, a blistering shot from an angle.
His second, in added time, was just as good as he turned over Kevin Hayes on the wing and running on, passed to Adam Hall, who returned the pass to McCarthy whose low shot crept inside the far post to help his side to a 2-9 to 0-11 half time lead.
McCarthy finished with 2-7, 2-2 from play as he and his brother Kevin were to the fore for Toomevara with the latter scoring five points from play as they maintained the lead throughout the second half but needed some heroic defending from Rory Brislane, Seamus O’Farrell, Jake Hackett and Liam Ryan to keep their net in tact as they booked a place in the final for the first time since 2008.
