Quiz raises a fine sum

The late Johhny Grace from Pallas, Newtown, and Nenagh, would have been extremely proud of his friends and family as the quiz night in his memory raised a massive €9,100 for Pieta House.

The event, which took place on April 12 in Figgerty’s pub, Summerhill, Nenagh, proved to be a massive success as Johnny’s family and large circle of friends came out in force to support the event in Johnny’s memory.

Damien Quinlivan of Figgerty’s pub co-organised the event with Darren Griffin along with a number of Johnny’s friends and family members. Johnny really enjoyed a good table quiz, so the group felt it was very fitting to have this event in his memory.

There was a great atmosphere in Figgerty’s on the night of the event, which saw the large pub full to capacity with table quizzers and supporters of the great ‘Johnny G’.

As per any good table quiz, there was much debate, scratching of heads and great laughter among the teams who took part in the event. It was a night to remember, for sure, and a night that Johnny himself would have enjoyed.

The night ended with a heart-warming speech and words of appreciation from Johnny’s daughter, Rachel.

You could almost sense Johnny’s presence there as his nearest and dearest shared many stories and memories, which they will forever hold dear.

THANKS

Johnny’s family and friends would like to extent their thanks and appreciation to everyone that supported the event, including Johnny’s friends at Figgerty’s pub, the Burgess Community, the many businesses that gave sponsorship towards the event, including Damian Quinlivan (Figgerty’s pub), Philly Ryan, Burgess GAA, Spillane Concrete, Ann Kelly and the many others - there are far too many to name, but all of whom have been extremely supportive and will not be forgotten.

We would like to also thank Darren Griffin, Declan Corcoran, Eddie Carmody and Damien Quinlivan for organising and hosting this event.

All the proceeds from the night, which totalled €9,100, have been donated to Pieta House.

On behalf of Darkness Into Light Nenagh and Pieta House, we would like to thank the Grace family and pass on our condolences on the loss of Johnny.
