Youth Division 2 Cup Final

Corbally United 2-1 Nenagh AFC

It was last minute heartbreak for Nenagh AFC’s youths in their Divisional Cup final with Corbally United at Jackman Park on Thursday evening when they relinquished an early lead to be pipped at the post.

Nenagh took an early when a sublime through ball by Dylan McKenna was blasted to the net by Daniel Connolly. The Tipperary side contained Corbally rather comfortably for the remainder of the half restricting the Limerick side to a couple of long-range efforts.

After the break, however, Corbally came more into the game and Nenagh were forced into a defensive mode for most of the second half. That said, Sean Morrissey went within a whisker of doubling Nenagh’s lead but his shot struck the crossbar.

When it seemed like Nenagh had done the hard part, Corbally struck an equaliser through Oscar O'Donoghue. It was a heartbreaking blow for Nenagh but worse was to come as Corbally snatched the winner in the dying moments. On a quick breakaway substitute Thisea Zabatakis fired a sweet shot into the top corner to snatch a memorable win.
