Junior ‘A’ Hurling League: There were two Group 1 fixtures on Wednesday 1st May - Nenagh Eire Og had a slender 0-14 to 0-13 victory away to Ballinahinch WHILE Kiladangan had a 2-21 to 0-14 victory at home to Kilruane MacDonaghs. Kiladangan were in control throughout and held a 0-12 to 0-4 half time lead whilst two late goals from Aidan Ryan and Conor Culhane secured victory. Eoin Carroll was Kilruane's best performer on the evening finishing with a tally of 0-11 (8f).

The game between Kiladangan and Ballinahinch scheduled for last Sunday did not go ahead as Ballinahinch gave a walkover - the result of the game did not matter as Kiladangan were certain of top spot whilst a win for Ballinahinch would not HAVE been enough to secure a semi-final spot.

The last game in the group took place on Tuesday 7th May with no result at time of going to print between Nenagh Eire Og hosted Kilruane MacDonaghs with the winners joining Kiladangan in the semi-finals.

In Group 2, Borris-Ileigh hosted Toomevara on Tuesday 30th April with Toome securing a comfortable 1-24 to 0-15 victory. Toome played with the wind in the first half and raced into a 0-7 to 0-3 lead. Borris found their feet in the game after that with Michael Ryan and Thomas Fahy impressing. James Meagher, Bob Delaney, and Shane Nolan were on target for Toome as they finished the half strongly - leading 0-14 to 0-7 at the interval. Toome held Borris at bay for the second half with Tim Flaherty goaling for the greyhounds late in the game.

This victory secured top spot in the group and a place in the semi-finals for Toomevara.

The last game in the group takes place on Wednesday 8th May between Roscrea and Borris-Ileigh with the winners joining Toomevara in the semi-finals.

Junior ‘B’ Hurling League: In Group 1, Kiladangan had a 1-20 to 1-15 victory over Portroe last Friday. In what was an entertaining game, Robbie Creamer finished well for Port on the thirteenth minute to go into a 1-4 to 0-4 lead. However, Kiladangan responded strongly, scoring eight points without reply with Darren Ryan to the fore. Kiladangan held a 0-12 to 1-5 half time lead. Portroe had their own purple patch in the second half, scoring six scores without reply to bring the side levels 1-12 to 0-15 in the 43rd minute. However, Kiladangan finished the stronger with a Darren Ryan goal in the 48th minute helping to secure victory. Ryan finished with 1-15 (12f, 2'65) for the victors whilst Mark Gennery (0-9, 5f) and Kieran McKeogh (0-3) impressed up front for Port.

Moneygall made the short journey to Toomevara last Monday with the visitors securing a 1-22 to 0-17 victory. Moneygall held a 1-9 to 0-10 half time lead with Dylan Maher the goal scorer. They stretched their lead into the second half to secure an eight point victory.

The final round of games in the group both take place on Saturday 18th May as Kiladangan host Toomevara whilst Portroe host Moneygall.

In Group 2, Lorrha had a 3-14 to 0-18 victory over neighbours Borrisokane on Tuesday 30th April in what was an exciting game. Lorrha with the aid of a first half wind enjoyed an eight point lead at the interval but Borris' came strongly back into the game in the second half but were unable to cut the deficit enough. Liam Donohoe, David Fogarty, and Martin Gorman were the Lorrha goal-scorers. The second game in the group between Shannon Rovers and Ballinahinch was postponed.

Round 4 of the group will take place on Saturday 18th May - Shannon Rovers host Knockshegowna and Borrisokane host Ballinahinch.

Both Group 3 games took place on Monday. Newport had a 1-14 to 1-12 victory over neighbours Ballina. In what was a close game, Newport managed to stay a point or two ahead throughout. A Luke Power goal for Ballina with six minutes left put the Shannonsiders in front. However, a Stephen Coffey responded two minutes later for Newport with a goal from the penalty spot which secured victory for his side. Niall Duffy, Jack Ryan, and James Moloney were to the fore for the victors.

Also on Monday, Templederry Kenyons had a 1-21 to 2-11 victory over Burgess. Sean Collins finished with 1-10 for the victors and he started the game brightly, scoring a goal for his side after the second minute. David Nealon responded with a goal for Burgess in the eleventh minute and they scored their second in the 20th minute through Micheal Ryan. Templederry held a three point lead at half time, 1-11 to 2-5. The sides traded points throughout the second half with Templederry holding out for victory.

Round 4 will take place on Saturday 18th May - Newport will host Silvermines and Templederry Kenyons will host Ballina.

Championship Draws: The North CCC will hold the North Hurling Championship Draws live this Wednesday 8th May @ 8.00pm. Draws will be streamed live on North Tipperary GAA Twitter for the following competitions: Hibernian Inn Senior Hurling Championship, Savvy Kitchens Premier Intermediate Hurling Championship, Kelly’s of Fantane Intermediate Hurling Championship, The Watch Centre Junior ‘A’ & ‘B’ Hurling Championships, Ger Gavin Under 19 ‘A’ & ‘B’ Hurling & Football Championships.
