Nenagh CBS Under 19 Rugby team retain the O’Gorman Cup
The Nenagh CBS Under 19 rugby team retained the O’Gorman Cup for a second year running after defeating a very physical Newtown School from Waterford 45-24 last week.
The CBS boys started well and the halftime score was 21-3. They started the second half well and some good pressure extended the CBS lead to 33-3. The next twenty minutes belonged to Newtown who put us under pressure and scored three tries. The score was 33-20. Despite the warm temperatures and the increased pressure, the CBS never gave up. They boys finished strong and scored in the final act of play to win by 21 points.
Well done to all the players who have been a part of the squad all season, a special mention to captain Cillian Ryan who missed the match due to a family bereavement.
Congratulations to all the lads, especially the sixth years who ended their school rugby careers with a cup win. Thanks to Mr O’Donnell for helping out on the day. A huge thank you to Mr Miller, we are delighted that all his hard work paid off!
