Junior ‘A’ Hurling League: The first game of the league took place on Wednesday last with Kiladangan defeating Nenagh Eire Og 1-19 to 2-10 in MacDonagh Park.

Kiladangan started brightly and led 0-5 to 0-1 after six minutes - however two Eire Og goals In the 11th & 18th minutes from Conor Robinson and Jack Sheedy helped to give the town side a 2-4 to 0-9 lead at the interval. Kiladangan's started the second half brightly, outscoring Eire Og 0-7 to 0-1 in the third quarter of the game to give Kiladangan a five point lead. Eire Og brought the deficit back to two points but a Shane Gleeson goal from the penalty spot after Eoin Meagher was fouled proved to be the winning of the game with Kiladangan securing victory by six points.

In the second game in Group 1 which took place last Friday, Kilruane MacDonaghs had a 3-13 to 0-12 victory over Ballinahinch. Two goals from Oisin O'Meara and Cian Moyles both just before half team were the key scores of the game as they helped Kilruane to a 2-8 to 0-7 half time lead. The sides traded points throughout the second half with Eoin Carroll scoring Kilruane's third goal in the 57th minute.

Toomevara had an exciting 0-22 to 0-21 victory over Roscrea last Sunday in the Group 2 fixture.

Both teams went score for score in the opening half, Shane Nolan, Michael Brislane, Tim Flaherty, and Robert Delaney for Toome whilst Liam Seacy and Jason Fitzpatrick were prominent scores for Roscrea. Toome held a 0-12 to 0-9 lead at half time, and they stretched their lead to six points early into the second half. Roscrea came thundering back into the game and as Toome were reduced to fourteen men as the teams entered the final quarter, Roscrea took full advantage and snuck in front by a point twice in the last five minutes, but Toome secured victory with the last point of the game in injury time.

Junior ‘B’ Hurling League:

Group 1 - Moneygall started their league campaign after a 3-16 to 1-16 over Kiladangan last Saturday in Moneygall.

The home side started brightly with Dylan Maher finding the net inside the first minute. Moneygall followed with two further goals on the sixth (Niall Maher) and eleventh (Tommy Devereux) minutes. They continued to impress for the remainder of the half with Mark Fanning and Tadhg Whyte scoring prominently with Moneygall leading 3-9 to 0-8 at half time.

Kiladangan's performance improved greatly in the second half with an early Eoin Meagher goal giving them a perfect start to the half. Kiladangan had Moneygall's lead cut back to four points late in the game and could have earned something out of the game only for some wayward shooting.

Portroe received a walkover from Toomevara in the second game in the group.

Group 2 - Lorrha had a 1-21 to 3-9 victory over neighbours Shannon Rovers last Friday in Ballinderry. The Rovers held a 2-6 to 0-9 half time lead, but Lorrha were the dominant team in the second half - outscoring their opponents 1-12 to 1-3. Martin Gorman and Conor Kennedy were prominent scorers for Lorrha whilst Paddy Heenan (2) and Jack Dunne found the back of the net for the Rovers.

Knockshegowna received a walkover from Ballinahinch in the second game in the group.

Group 3 - Newport had a comfortable 1-24 to 1-9 at home to Burgess on Saturday.

Fielding a young side - Newport were dominant throughout and went into the half time break with a 0-15 to 0-5 lead. David Nealon scored the Burgess goal in the 45th minute but they couldn’t muster a comeback as Newport's Stephen Coffey scored his sides goal seven minutes later. Coffey finished with an impressive tally of 1-11 (9f) for the victors whilst Jack Delahunty and Brian Tobin contributed four points each. Dan Ryan, James Tobin, and David Whelton also impressed for Newport whilst John O'Brien was top scorer for Burgess.

Silvermines had a high scoring 5-13 to 1-17 victory over Ballina on Saturday. The Mines' had a 1-9 to 1-8 lead at half time with Sean Nolan scoring the Silvermines goal. It was a case of goals win matches in the second half for the Mines as Nolan scored his second of the game along with two from Danny Quinn whilst John Ryan was their other goal scorers.
