Winners will be announced at a Gala awards ceremony in Sheraton Hotel, Athlone, Co Westmeath on Friday, May 24.

Boher - Digital Horizons: Empowering Rural Minds, is a finalist in the Digital Education category. This is a universal education initiative aimed at eradicating the digital divide in rural communities, having at its core universal accessibility. This digital project has created a suite of digital learning and tailored educational programmes offered in our local community hall to enhance digital literacy, providing residents with the skills necessary to thrive in a digital world.

Collaborations with local schools and sports clubs ensure the sustainability of the initiative fostering a future ready interconnected community. This project promises to unlock new opportunities for rural residents, transforming the landscape of rural education.

Congratulating the finalists, National Director, .ie Digital Town Programme Oonagh McCutcheon said: “At .ie, our purpose is to enable and empower people, communities and businesses across Ireland to thrive online and we are advocates for all things digital at all levels.

The .ie Digital Town Awards are a celebration of the incredible work being undertaken at a local level to promote innovation and breathe new life into local communities.

The awards also afford the opportunity to recognise and show appreciation to the volunteers across the country who devote their spare time working tirelessly to enhance their local area, towns and villages and we look forward to celebrating all of our finalists at our gala awards ceremony in May.
