Architects raise funds for homeless

Two architects from Ballycommon, a father and daughter, have used their expertise to raise funds to help homeless people.

Don and Pattie O’ Neill conducted a total of ten one-hour consultations with people needing architectural advice, and in doing so raised €1,200 for Simon.

The consultations were kindly hosted in the upstairs section of Steeples cafe in Nenagh between April 11 and 13.

As part of the charity event, people from North and South Tipperary as well as Limerick came to Nenagh to avail of Pattie’s and Don’s advice on properties they wished to renovate or develop.

They included a woman from Thurles who had plans for her home in Dublin. Others sought advice on conservation of stone houses as well as newer build alterations and extensions.

The two architects from Ballycommon were taking part in the RIAI Simon Open Door event, which allows homeowners to have an initial discussion about their project with a registered architect.

For a donation of €120, participants book a one-hour consultation with a registered architect who give professional advice on everything from building, renovating, or making energy-efficient upgrades to their properties.

The local father and daughter team took part in the same initiative back in 2019 when they raised €1,140 for Simon.
