Carew Park 2-1 Newport Town

Newport Town posted a disappointing result on their trip to Carew Park on Sunday.

Recent form suggested the Tipperary side might take the points here but first half goals from Pat Boyle and Danny McCarthy put Carew in control.

Darren Collins pulled one back for Newport with a shot from outside the area. Newport went all out for the equaliser and Christy Doyle was denied by the crossbar before the upright denied team mate Cillian O’Shea. Jay Ryan’s goal being ruled out for offside typified the type of day the visitors

Newport Town: Seamus O'Regan; Eoin Looney, Pa Murtagh, Christy O'Connor, Drew McLean, Daniel Ryan, Darren Collins, Cillian O'Shea, Christy Doyle, Conor Brett, Luke Ryan. Subs: Brian O'Sullivan, Joe Shanahan, Jay Ryan.
