Similar to the under 20 championship, Tipperary join Clare, Limerick, and Waterford in a round-robin phase 1 with the top two teams progressing to a final in late April as well as Munster semi-finals with Cork and Kerry.

Following their home game with Limerick, Tipperary are away for their remaining phase 1 games, against Waterford in Lemybrien on April 9th and Clare in Quilty on April 16th.

First year joint-managers Shane Hennessy and Michael Donnellan have selected a 38-player panel which contains just five survivors from last years panel that reached the second phase but exited to Cork at the semi-final stage with Tom Corcoran, Cillian Healy, Ronan Myles, Gavin Neville and Charlie Walsh providing the experience.
