New candidate for Lowry Team
Templederry mum to stand in Local Elections
Deputy Michael Lowry has announced a new candidate to join the Lowry Team for the upcoming Local Elections. Pamela Quirke O’Meara, Killeen, Templederry, is adding her name to the ballot paper in June, and her decision to do so is widely welcomed.
Deputy Lowry said that he is thrilled that Pamela has accepted the invitation to contest the Local Elections. “Pamela has the ability and the commitment to be an excellent public representative. She is in touch with the issues that matter to families and young people and the issues of significance to local communities. She is determined to make a difference in politics and community life.”
Pamela added that she is honoured to take up the challenge that lies ahead and hopes to follow in the footsteps of the much respected Rocky McGrath, who recently retired from local politics.
“I will liaise closely with Rocky to continue his established record in assisting the people in the Nenagh-Newport area with their needs,” commented Pamela. “I am excited and enthusiastic about the campaign ahead and the opportunity to work with Michael Lowry and his excellent and established team. If elected, I am fully committed to upholding the ethos of the Lowry Team by working hard and dedicating myself to the role, and I will do all possible to respond to the needs of my community.”
Pamela is married to Declan and the couple have three children. She is known for her passion for people and her local community. She has long been an advocate for positive change for families through her role as a Family Learning Co-ordinator. “I am hard-working, loyal, and dedicated to my family and friends. I have a long history of helping others and it is something that I place great value on. I would love the opportunity to make a difference by representing the needs of the people in my own community. Over the last few years, I have met many families that are struggling to cope with the issues facing them in our communities today and I can fully empathise with them.
“As a mother, I understand the daily struggles of balancing work, family and community involvement.
“If elected, I will fight for policies that support parents and families such as affordable childcare and family-friendly spaces in our local community.”
Pamela also highlighted youth mental health issues and the lack of professionals in the relevant services to address this glaring need among her concerns, in addition to the need to destigmatise mental health issues.
As a former carer, she also has firsthand experience of the sacrifices they make and advocates for better respite care, mental health support and fair compensation for carers.
With her long history of helping others, Pamela would enthusiastically welcome the opportunity to make a difference by representing the people in her community.
She looks forward to meeting everyone over the coming weeks and to discussing the various ways in which she can help them.
Pamela joins the impressive line-up of Lowry Team Local Election candidates, comprising Cllr Michéal Lowry, Cllr Michael O’Meara, Cllr Shane Lee and Cllr Eddie Moran on the ballot paper this summer.
