Go-ahead for Nenagh houses

Tipperary Co Council has granted conditional planning permission for 63 houses on the outskirts of Nenagh, despite receiving a large volume of submissions from concerned local residents.

Pat Cummins was last week granted conditional permission to construct the houses at Drummin on the town's Borrisokane Road. The plan also includes four domestic garages, roads, footpaths, green areas and connection to the public services and access via the existing Drummin Village estate road network. It is understood that agreement in principle has been reached for the transfer of six units to the council for social and affordable housing purposes.

The council received 24 submissions, in which a series of issues were raised, among them traffic safety and congestion, emergency vehicle access, and impact on residential amenity. Following its assessment of the application, the council granted permission subject to 26 conditions. Among them are stipulations relating to revised aspects of the plan, and for the recommendations of a road safety audit to be incorporated into the development design.
