Louise launches her election campaign

The Labour Party candidate for the Nenagh LEA launched her local election campaign at the weekend.

Louise Morgan Walsh, a Clinical Nurse Manager from Nenagh General Hospital and mum-of-three, is seeking to win a seat in the Nenagh LEA in June’s local elections.

Paddy Rohan’s Bar in Nenagh was full to the brim last Friday night as friends and supporters of Louise gathered for her campaign launch.

There was great energy at the gathering as Louise took to the stage to set out her objectives for the local area, followed by great entrainment from TG4 Glór Tíre 2023 finalist Molly O’Connell.

Louise discussed the issues around the lack of key frontline workers in health, gardaí, fire service and ambulance staff. She thanked Deputy Alan Kelly for raising the issue of the recruitment embargo in the Dáil and how ending the recruitment freeze in the health service is an absolute priority for her party.

Louise also outlined the work she carried out as a community activist and raising issues on traffic calming, parking, anti-social behaviour, housing and much more. “I have made numerous submissions and have gotten involved in many public consultations over the last five years and I will continue to campaign for a transport hub at the railway, better investment on the rail network and stations, enhanced tourism, better active travel plans and new homes. I will also campaign to get our St Patrick’s Day Parade back in Nenagh next year and will establish a committee later in the year.

“I joined the Labour Party because I believe it is everybody's responsibility to involve themselves in the issues they care about, especially in their community. My children are involved in music and sport, which I believe is hugely important to their personal development and I’m a strong supporter of many local clubs. I am very interested in primary and community care and good health promotion.

“I believe I can bring something new to local politics in the Nenagh district. I am passionate about Nenagh, and I want to see the town and surrounding areas develop in the right ways.

“Times are tough, and that's why it's more important than ever that we use the resources we have in the best possible way and that everywhere gets its fair share.”

Tipperary TD Alan Kelly described Louise as an incredible candidate and lovely person who has worked so hard to help people across Nenagh and surrounds for so many years.

The Portroe native added: “Not alone through her work in the hospital but also across a range of other civic and community activities. We will leave no stone unturned in our fight to get Louise elected this time out.”
