Cloughjordan set for new art exhibition

Embark on a journey through the vibrant world of ‘Springtime: A New Beginnin’, an exhibition that celebrates the transformative power of art soon to open in Cloughjordan.

Held at the Middle Country Café in the village from March 6 to April 21, this showcase invites you to attend the artistic renewal of Giulia Coli, a talented artist whose path has been shaped by diverse landscapes and personal experiences.

The opening night is going to be on March 14 from 6pm to 8pm, with some food and wine.

Giulia's artistic journey began amidst the historic marvels of Carrara in Italy where she studied art and sculpture. Growing up in Pietrasanta, in northern Tuscany, a city renowned for its welcoming embrace of artists from around the globe, Giulia developed a profound appreciation for creativity and expression. It was here that Giulia's passion for art first took root.

However, life took her on a different trajectory as she ventured to Dublin, seeking new opportunities and experiences. Little did she know that her arrival would coincide with the starting of the Covid-19 pandemic, a tumultuous period that would profoundly impact her life and reignite her artistic spirit. She found comfort in her brushes and canvases, marking the beginning of a new life chapter.

Settling in Nenagh a year later, Giulia established a modest studio where she delved into her craft with newfound determination. Drawing inspiration from the beauty of the Irish countryside, she embarked on a series of hiking expeditions, immersing herself in the rugged landscapes and vibrant wildlife that surrounded her.

From the remote hillsides to the windswept cliffs, every corner of Ireland became a source of inspiration, fuelling Giulia's creative vision and igniting her passion for painting.

Ireland, with its lush greenery and dramatic vistas, became both muse and sanctuary for her, offering endless opportunities for artistic exploration and discovery.

Her paintings, infused with the spirit of the Emerald Isle, reflect a deep connection to nature and a profound reverence for its enduring beauty. Each brushstroke captures the essence of Irish life, from the playful foxes to the delicate dance of native blooms in the gentle breeze.

INSPIRATION

Giulia says: “I draw inspiration from the masters that I studied in Italy, especially Van Gogh and the Fauves movement. I infuse my creations with a sense of vibrancy and vitality that resonates with viewers.

“Through my signature technique, I aim to create an immersive experience, inviting audiences to journey with me through the rich tapestry of color and texture that defines my works.

“Each painting requires lots of hours of work, they are essential to achieve the artwork’s tapestry appearance.”

Lately, Giulia has become an integral part of the vibrant artistic community in Limerick and North Tipperary, where she collaborates with fellow creatives and shares her passion for painting with others. Her participation in groups like Art Limerick and the North Tipperary group has allowed her to connect with like-minded individuals and contribute to the cultural landscape of her adopted home.
