Incoming Nenagh DIL Chairperson, Eavan Carmody Delaney with outgoing Chairperson and 2024 Treasurer, Ryan O’Meara.

Nenagh Darkness Into Light 2024

Darkness Into Light will return to Nenagh on the morning of Saturday, May 11, this year. Similar to previous years, the route remains unchanged and will start and finish at the Scouts Hall.

The work has already commenced to organise this year's 5km walk through the streets of Nenagh. The Nenagh DIL Committee for 2024 was recently elected at their AGM, with Eavan Carmody Delaney taking over as Chairperson.

Ryan O'Meara, who has served as Chairperson for 2022 and 2023, has stepped into the position of treasurer for this year's event.

The newly-elected Chairperson, Eavan Carmody Delaney, said: “I'm delighted to take over as Chairperson of Nenagh DIL this year. DIL is a vital funding source for the life-saving services that Pieta House provides to those in need, and I am really looking forward to working with the incoming committee, local people, businesses and clubs to make this year's event another success. I have been serving on the Nenagh DIL committee since 2018 and I am really looking forward to working with the Nenagh DIL team in organising this year's event.”

The outgoing Chairperson, Ryan O'Meara stated: “It has been an honour to lead the Nenagh DIL team over the last number of years, and I'm delighted to continue working closely on this very important fundraiser as Treasurer. I believe it's important that we allow different approaches to events such as this, so that we can continue to evolve and develop our annual walk. Eavan brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, having served on the Nenagh DIL committee since 2018 and I am certain this year's 5km walk will be another success locally. Our planning is well underway and the committee are already working hard to bring this important event back to Nenagh, to both raise awareness of mental health issues and the services that Pieta House provides to those in need.”

The Nenagh DIL Committee for 2024 is as follows: Eavan Carmody Delaney, Chairperson; Tricia Delaney, Vice-Chairperson; Brendan Murphy, Secretary; Ryan O'Meara and Shane Kiely, Treasurers; Damian O Donoghue, Rachel Kennedy and Fiona Ryan, committee members.
