Deputy Lowry: 'John was a man of exceptional intellect and ability.'

TD's tribute to former Taoiseach

Tipp TD Michael Lowry was saddened to learn of the passing on Tuesday of former Taoiseach John Bruton.

Deputy Lowry said: “John was a man of exceptional intellect and ability. He had a curiosity about world affairs. He read and took advice to ensure that he had a full grasp and understanding of even the most complex issues.

“He was an outstanding colleague. Always available to offer support and encouragement. He was genuine sincere and unassuming. He was a man of high values and enormous integrity.

“He gave a lifetime of commitment to Fine Gael and was an outstanding ambassador for his beloved country. He served the people of Meath and Ireland with honour and distinction.

“My sympathy to his wife Finola who was central to his life and his career. He will be greatly missed by his family.”
