A warm welcome celebration

Roscrea Suites hosted a heartwarming Christmas welcome evening on Thursday, December 21, to express gratitude to the local community for their unwavering support. The event marked the first Christmas celebration for the approximately 150 residents, predominantly comprised of women and children, with 50 children below the age of 17 currently in residence.

The festive evening commenced with the melodious performances of the Roscrea Community Choir, who enchanted the audience with traditional Christmas favourites.

Following their enchanting performance, the residents took to the stage, sharing their own traditional carols and spreading the joy of the season. The Ukrainian children residing in the centre added a special touch by singing their own heartfelt carols.

The event saw a strong turnout from the local community, including representatives from businesses that have generously supported the residents, as well as members of the NTDC, local schools, and the HSE. The gathering provided an opportunity for residents to express their gratitude to the people of Roscrea for the overwhelming support received since their arrival.

Then we had a visit by a very special man himself, and Santa did not disappoint when as usual he made sure all the children had a present of their own, again kindly donated by the local community.

The heartwarming evening concluded with a delightful spread of refreshments prepared by the residents, fostering a sense of community and togetherness during their first Christmas away from home.

Sean Finnegan, General Manager of the Ukrainian Accommodation Centre, expressed his gratitude. “We are truly touched by the warmth and support extended to us by the people of Roscrea. This Christmas reception was a wonderful way to bring our community together and celebrate the spirit of the season. We are grateful to all who have contributed to making this evening memorable for our residents.”

The Ukrainian Accommodation Centre looks forward to continued collaboration with the Roscrea community, fostering a spirit of inclusivity and goodwill.
