Give this Great Tit a home!

Many species of garden birds are hard-pressed to find a place where they can safely roost or build a nest.

Birds like the Blue Tit, Great Tit and Coal Tit need a cavity where they can build a home. During the winter they will need a place to roost. Nest boxes are ideal for their needs.

The Tipperary Branch of Birdwatch Ireland will host a workshop for making nest boxes in Cabragh Wetlands Centre, Thurles, on Saturday, November 18, at 11am. Materials like wood, nails and screws will be supplied.

The wood will be cut to size so that the boxes can be easily assembled. All you need to bring is a hammer. Children must be accompanied by an adult. We ask for a small donation of €5 per box to help defray expenses. Please register so we can plan to have materials, etc, ready. Just email: tippbwi@gmail.com.

Birdwatch Ireland is a voluntary organisation and is one of the foremost conservation bodies in the country. Their expertise on many topics relating to the environment is greatly respected.

Please support their work in helping birds in your area. Venue: Cabragh Wetlands Centre, Thurles. Postcode: E41T266. Time: 11am. Date: Saturday, November 18.
