Halloween fun in Roscrea

Fireworks display attracts crowds

The Bank Holiday Monday at Roscrea saw record crowds attend what was one of the most successful nights since this event has begun over the past number of years. The event took place at the old Tesco hall where we witnessed some very spooky looking children and parents, all sharing their enthusiasm for the festive in Halloween. From the moment the event kicked off the hall was absolutely rocking, the dance floor was at full tilt, the moves were just wow.

There was no time for waiting. Shane Reynolds just has the thing where he just gets the place moving with no rest. The people were loving the decorations. It was just amazing - noises, screeching and all sorts of sounds and images were deployed to create the Halloween feeling. The Clown Corner was busy with lots of activities in play; people were really enjoying what it had to offer. The Graveyard was definitely drawing lots of attention, with the parents and families having lots of joy and laughter. Photos were definitely a thing where people will look back in years to come to revive memories for a lifetime from this very unique event.

Following on from all of the inside activities, the massive crowd then started to get into place in every part and corner of the town for the fireworks display.

The place was absolutely flooded with people everywhere you looked as they looked forward to seeing what was one of our best shows to date.

Fireworks started at 8.15pm where everyone witnessed a beautiful display with lots of colours, noises and above all, creating a very positive night for the people in our community.

Our committee of Claire O’Meara, Gillian Pearson, Amanda Phelan and Councillor Shane Lee, were absolutely overwhelmed with the support on the night.

The committee would like to thank and acknowledge the following: Coláiste Phobal and Tipperary ETB for the use of the field; Mark Devereux and Roscrea Centre for the use of a fantastic hall; the volunteers who helped our committee on the night; our local schools, St Cronan's National School and Scoil Eoin Naofa for the amazing decorations; Roscrea Garda Station for the use of barriers; Tipperary County Council; the media, PJ Wright, photographer; Sean Hogan and everyone that supported the night. Thank you ever so much. Until next year!
