Friends of Nenagh Hospital give thanks

THE Friends of Nenagh Hospital would like to thank the people of Nenagh and surrounding areas for their fantastic response to their recent street collection.

Declan McGee, Chairperson, Friends of Nenagh Hospital, expressed thanks on behalf of the group to the following, in no particular order.

“The 60-plus people that volunteered their time to help with manning the collection tables over the two days, in what can only be described at times as appalling weather;

“Business owners, who allowed us collect outside their premises and to those that provided refreshments to our volunteers; Members and volunteers who helped with the organising of the collection; Nenagh Ormond Rugby Club for providing the tables and chairs for our use;

“Gardaí, who were so helpful in providing us with a permit; and the many, many members of the public who contributed to our collection.

“Our annual street collection, along with other fundraising events carried out on our behalf by third parties, allow our charity to provide assistance to staff and patients at Nenagh Hospital. In the past 10 months, we have contributed to the purchase of presents for patients confined to Nenagh Hospital over the Christmas period while also purchasing three of the latest generation Portable Ultra-Sound Scanners, and accessories, for use at the hospital.

“Nenagh Hospital is one of only three hospitals in Ireland using this latest technology and a number of lives have already been saved as a result of their use.

“None of this would be possible without the generosity of the public, both locally and further afield.

“Our Annual General Meeting will be held in the canteen of Nenagh Hospital at 8pm on November 21. This meeting is open to the public and you are cordially invited to attend. Anyone wishing to put their name forward for an officer’s role should send their details, and the position sought, to the Secretary, Friends of Nenagh Hospital, Nenagh Hospital, Nenagh, Co Tipperary, arriving no later than November 14.”

The officer roles are as follows: Chairperson; Vice-Chairperson; Secretary; Treasurer; PRO; Development Officer; Compliance Officer.
