Nenagh star in new TV thriller

Key role for Carolyn Bracken in 'The Gone'

Nenagh actress Carolyn Bracken stars in a new TV series starting on RTÉ this Sunday night.

'The Gone' is a six-part thriller set in New Zealand, where a young Irish couple mysteriously vanish from a rural town. A joint New Zealand and Irish crime investigation ensues in which an Irish detective teams up with a Kiwi cop. The pair find themselves having to contend with a community's growing disquiet that the disappearances may be linked to a series of historical murders.

Carolyn plays the part of Irish tabloid journalist Aileen Ryan, who follows the detective to New Zealand and tries to get to the bottom of what happened.

This is the latest in a long line of acting roles for Carolyn (41), who comes from a Nenagh family steeped in the arts and who first took to the stage as a child with the Nenagh Players. A graduate of the Gaiety School of Acting, Carolyn's recent film work includes the award-winning 'You Are Not My Mother' and Oscar-nominated 'An Cailín Ciúin'. Her recent TV work of note includes 'Balor Hall' 'Dublin Murders' and 'Smother'.

Carolyn also appeared in hit series 'Line of Duty' and 'The Fall'. She plays a key role in 'The Gone', starring along Richard Flood, whose acting canon includes 'Crossing Lines', 'Shameless' and 'Grey's Anatomy'

Written by Anna McPartlin and Michael Bennett, 'The Gone' begins this Sunday, October 22, at 9.30pm on RTÉ One and RTÉ Player.
