Two women were arrested following thefts from shops in Nenagh.

Five thefts from shops in Nenagh occurred on Tuesday of last week, local Garda Sergeant Declan O’ Carroll has reported.

A woman has since been arrested and charged with theft in relation to three incidents. Another woman was arrested in relation to the other two thefts.

Meanwhile, as garda conduct a crackdown on speeding in the district, a man was allegedly caught travelling in excess of 120kph as he drove by a school in a rural area of Nenagh last week. The limit in the area is 60kph.

He was arrested and later charged with dangerous driving.

Sergeant O’ Carroll said there was an ongoing problem in relation to the theft of bicycles in Nenagh at present. The latest incident reported to gardaí occurred on Sunday last at McDonagh Street. The bicycle was unlocked and has not been recovered.

Meanwhile, a local man has had several thousands of euro stolen from his bank account, as gardaí continue to warn people to be vigilant in relation to online fraud. The victim received a text message that appeared to be from An Post and replied with a text containing his bank details. This was followed by a phone call from an individual purporting to be employed at his bank. The victim later discovered the money missing from his account.
