The Delaney family will perform at the Black Mills.

Family trio at the Black Mills

Roscrea Heritage Society is delighted to host the extremely talented family trio of Martin Delaney, son Martin Jnr and daughter Bríd for the next session in the Black Mills (Eircode: E53 AH50) on Friday, September 29, from 8pm to 10pm.

The trio will share the stage with St Cronan’s High Cross, a fascinating relic that once sat in a graveyard across the road from the Black Mills. The mill dates from the first half of the 18th century and is located near the 11th century Round Tower and 12th century Romanesque church. The acoustic properties of the mill make an ideal venue to host music performances.

Martin Delaney Snr is known both near and far for his musical talent. For years he has been a familiar face on the pub scene throughout Roscrea and beyond.

His repertoire is a mix of folk, ballads, country and traditional. He is delighted to be performing in the Black Mills accompanied by his son and daughter.

Martin Jnr is another familiar face on the pub scene. His lively style grabs the crowd’s attention, regardless of their taste in music. Martin Jnr is also a former All-Ireland winner in traditional singing.

Bríd is well known to musical theatre lovers in Roscrea having played many roles on the Abbey Hall stage with Roscrea Musical Society. She also duets with her dad from time to time for weddings and parties, and is delighted to be performing as part of a trio on the night.

Tickets for this event have already sold out! The final session for the 2023 season will take place on Friday, October 27; more details to follow.
