Templemore supports Mary’s Meals

We would like to thank all who helped us in any way last weekend to raise funds and awareness regarding Mary's Meals.

We had a very successful walk from Thurles to Templemore. On our way we were very kindly treated in the Cottage in Loughmore to free tea and scones. On arrival in Templemore we were led by pipers John McLoughney, Joe Barry and Roisin Barrett down through Templemore for a well-earned cup of tea in the McAuley Centre.

Fr Eamon Kelly, National Director of Mary's Meals, presided over a well-attended Mass in Clonmore followed by some refreshments in Fitzpatricks Country Club, where Cillian Roche and friends provided beautiful music and song in a relaxed atmosphere. Eamon O'Dwyer of ‘Down your Way'’recorded an excellent programme, which was aired on Saturday last and is available on podcast.

The following morning, the walkers continued their journey to Roscrea, before finally arriving yesterday in Knock, Co Mayo, where Fr Eamon celebrated the Feast of the Assumption at 11am Mass. At the same time, Martin Bourke and his back-up team of Joe Bourke and Pat Phelan began his cycle from the Templemore Arms, arriving in Knock the following day. Well done, Martin.

All our fundraising activities regarding Martin's cycle will be concluded by August 31. Remember: €22 feeds a starving child one meal a day in a place of education for a whole academic year. Education is the answer to poverty but children can not learn in hunger.
