Bourke Sports pop-up shop opens in Nenagh

Great bargains in sportswear this month

Bourke Sports opened a pop-up shop in Nenagh last week, offering local customers the chance to avail of great bargains in leading sportswear.

The shop on Pearse St opened last Friday and will remain in situ until Saturday, July 22. It boasts a fantastic range of new stock including sports tracksuits, jerseys, shorts and socks, as well as hurleys and sliotars. There are some enticing reductions as well, from 20% to as much as 70% off certain items, including jackets and club jerseys.

The pop-up shop concept is a new venture for Bourke Sports, which previously featured at trade shows around the country. During the pandemic, founder Cathal Bourke of Borrisoleigh and his team looked at their inventory control and stock control systems with a new view to being able to set up shop at any location.

A Bourke Sports pop-up shop opened in Thurles for the month of May last and proved very successful. The Thurles Pop-Up, and the current Nenagh shop are part of a pilot project with ambitions for a wider spread in the future.

It's the latest chapter in a success story that began several years ago after Cathal decided to go into full-time business making and repairing hurleys. He started that in 2012 having emerged from a Quantity Surveying course in college with little prospect of work in that area in recession-hit Ireland.

Cathal had been repairing hurleys in order to make some money during his college years. When in Transition Year, he had been part of a mini company set up to design and sell jerseys. It was therefore a natural progression for him to combine the two lines of work as a business concept that really took off in 2017/18 when he set up Bourke Sports to provide local clubs with high quality, stylishly designed sports gear.

Headquartered in Borrisoleigh, Bourke Sports has a shop and office in Belfast as well. More than 20 full-time staff are employed between the two locations.

Taking the opportunity to thank all of his customers for their support on this journey so far, Cathal issued a warm welcome to all to visit the pop-up shop in Nenagh this month. The shop is open from Monday to Saturday, 9.30am to 6pm.
