Defibrillator support for Borrisokane parkrun

Borrisokane Town parkrun were delighted to receive their AED - Automated External Defibrillator - recently, sponsored by Bord na Móna. Claire Jones and James Fahy, from Bord na Móna, attended last Saturday to present the AED kit bag. This is an essential piece of equipment for any parkrun or sporting event, and hopefully will never be needed.

On the day we also welcomed the Borrisokane Sanctuary Runners once again, with a large group in attendance. Out front was international athlete Peter Somba, who was taking it easy as he was racing the next day in Waterford, coming second overall in the half marathon (1hr 9mins). Peter has promised to return and try to break Daniel Ellis' course record.

It was fantastic to see a huge group of all nationalities taking part to finish off and support Refugee Week.

Our 100th event will take place on July 22, but please join us every Saturday at 9.30am for a free timed 5k walk, jog or run.
