It will soon be show time!

With just over five weeks to go to this year’s North Tipperary Agricultural Show our hardworking committee are busy working away behind the scenes in preparation for what we hope will be an even bigger and better show.

The show, established in 1875, is one of Ireland’s oldest and best events of its kind. The fact that the show has survived the test of time comes down to a number of reasons, and for me the main reason is our community. The people of Nenagh, North Tipperary and beyond have supported this show for generations through volunteering, exhibiting, sponsoring and patrons who attend the show each year have all played a role in making this great occasion a success over the years. For that, the show committee would like to extend our appreciation.

This year we have made some changes to the show that we feel will help appeal to a wider audience. The show will retain the cattle classes, which have seen strong entries over the last number of years, our sheep classes have been adjusted, which we hope will see some stronger entries as we intend to grow this section over the next few years.

Pony classes

It is with much regret that we officially announce that there will be no show jumping again at this year’s show. However, we will have pony classes and the working hunter classes as per last year’s show. We will also have our very popular dog show as normal. There are some new competitions been added to the horticultural tent, including a ‘Pimp your Wellies’ competition, which will add a bit of fun to the show – all details of these and more are available in our show schedule, which will be available in the coming days on our website www.northtippshow.com.

We really want to make this year’s show even more family friendly. We are delighted to announce that we will have a great lineup of music starting with Tex Deegan, followed by our own Bubba Shakeshere, the Nenagh Brass Band and in the afternoon we have our local Glór Na Tíre winner for 2022 Aishling Rafferty live on stage. This will all together ensure a great variety of musical entertainment for everyone. We are delighted to also announce that Wooly's Pet Farm will be at the show with a fantastic variety of animals both big and small; they will also be bringing a very special guest animal on the day which cannot be missed! There will be bouncy castles, face painting and a fancy dress competition for children with prizes to the won: Fancy dress theme: Greatest Showman movie.

We will also have a large selection of classic and vintage cars and tractors at this year’s show.

We are also encouraging clubs and voluntary groups to take a free community stand and have a presence at this year’s show.

We look forward to sharing more details on this year’s show in the coming weeks. To keep up to date please make sure to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or go to our website www.northtippshow.com
