New outdoor show in Cloughjordan this Friday and Saturday

Final rehearsals are in full flow now, with only days to go to Cloughjordan's Theatre on the Edge’s new show, ‘The Sky is Falling Down’, being staged on two dates this week at Cloughjordan Amphitheatre, Friday June 23 at 7pm and Saturday, June 24,June at 3pm.

This is Theatre on the Edge’s third play to be premiered in this fabulous open air venue.

‘The Sky is Falling Down’, like their previous two plays, is written by Cloughjordan resident Martin Maguire, who's a writer, actor and director. Like the first two shows, this play deals with a very serious theme in Theatre on the Edge’s  light-hearted signature style, with singing, a bit of dancing and plenty of laughs.

‘The Sky Is Falling Down’ deals with the climate and biodiversity crisis and impending mass extinction.

It highlights how the protests and calls for real change from climate activists are met with indifference and inaction from the government.

This often results in legal action from the gardaí and the courts against the protestors, even though the Irish Government declared a climate emergency by law several years ago. That doesn't sound at all funny, but in their show it is hilarious!

Theatre on the Edge's first play in 2018, ‘Oh To Have a Little House’, dealt with the themes of home, where you're really from, and who really has a right to housing.

Their second play in 2019, ‘A Great Little Republic’, dealt with ‘The System’of the Irish banks and the Irish politicians being a little too cosy for the good of the Irish public.

The cast and crew of Theatre on the Edge all live in Cloughjordan and they are a splendid mixture of theatre and music professionals and community performers.
