Update on new Nenagh nursing home

The new community nursing home to replace the existing St Conlon’s Home in Nenagh is due to open in March next year, Cllr Seamus Morris was informed at Tuesday’s HSE West Forum meeting.

Maria Bridgeman, the Chief Officer for HSE Midwest Community Care, said work on the new 50-bed home was progressing well, with an expected handover to the HSE at the end of August.

“The two-storey unit will then need to be equipped, commissioned and receive HIQA registration prior to opening,” Ms Bridgeman stated.

She said long stay, respite and palliative care services will be provided in the new unit, providing a quality standard of living for its residents in line with regulatory requirements.

The approved capital budget for the project is €22.33 million.
