Junior 'A' Football Championship: In Group 1, Roscrea had a 2-9 to 0-14 win over Kilruane MacDonaghs las Friday in Roscrea. Kilruane had the better of the first half proceedings and enjoyed a 0-11 to 0-3 half time with Cian Darcy, Seamus Hennessy, and Aaron Morgan prominent in the scoring charts for the magpies.

Scores were at a premium in the third quarter with Roscrea outscoring Kilruane 0-3 to 0-1. A Roscrea goal on the 48th minute changed the complexion of the game with Roscrea rallying in the closing stages of the game - scoring 1-1 in added time to secure victory. This result now means that Roscrea progress to the North Final.

In Group 2, the Kiladangan v Portroe game scheduled to take place on Friday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch. It took place on Monday evening with Kiladangan securing a 2-10 to 1-8 win in an exciting game of football. Kiladangan had a 1-5 to 0-5 half time lead with an Eoin Meagher goal early in the game proving to be the difference between the sides. With Kiladangan needing to win by five points to secure progression to the Final, all looked to be going well for them going into added time as they led by 1-10 to 0-8. However, a fisted Conor O'Brien effort found its way to the back of the Kiladangan net for Port. There was still time with more drama when a Kiladangan player was fouled in the box with the game in its dying seconds. Darren Moran finished the penalty to the back of the Port net to give Kiladangan their required five-point victory which booked a final against Roscrea - a repeat of last year’s final. The Final is provisionally scheduled to take place on Wednesday 17th May with time and venue yet to be determined.

Junior 'B' Hurling League: Group 1 commenced last Friday with Moneygall kicking off their league campaign with an impressive 2-20 to 1-15 win over Knockshegowna in Ballingarry. In the second game in the group, Ballina had a 1-16 to 0-15 win over neighbours Burgess in Kilcolman. Ballina enjoyed a 0-8 to 0-6 half time lead with Burgess missing a penalty in the first half. An Eamonn Hayes goal with ten minutes to go gave Ballina the momentum with Burgess failing to claw back the deficit in the closing stages.

Round 2 of Group 1 will take place this Friday 12th May. Mon=eygall will host Ballina at 7.00pm while Burgess host Knockshegowna in Kilcolman at 7.30pm.

In Group 2, Lorrha had a 1-16 to 1-13 victory over Ballinahinch. The Templederry Kenyons v Newport game was postponed due to the said passing of Paddy Ryan (Coole). Sympathy to the Ryan family on Paddy's passing.

In the next round, Templederry Kenyons will host Toomevara this Saturday at 7.00pm whilst Ballinahinch will host neighbours Newport in Shalee on Tuesday 16th May at 7.00pm.
