Sunrise swim on Lough Derg

A Darkness Into Light fundraising swim/snorkel will take place at Youghal Quay this Saturday, May 6, at 5.30am.

This will be the second annual staging of the event organised by a local group of regular lake swimmers in aid of Pieta. Last year saw more than 20 swimmers gather in the darkness and enter the water as the sun rose. The presence of musicians and candles lent a poignant atmosphere to the occasion.

A similar event is planned for this Saturday morning and all are welcome to attend. Donations will be collected on the day, and all proceeds will be donated to Pieta, which provides free-of-charge support to people in suicidal distress, those who are self-harming and those who have been bereaved by suicide.

People attending are asked to car-pool where possible; cars could be parked outside Barry's pub on the morning. For further information, please contact 087 7684363.
