DJ Vinny spins a fundraiser

A NENAGH disc jockey has embarked on a campaign to raise €4,000 to purchase two new machines to be installed on streets in the town aimed at saving the lives of people who suffer heart attacks.

Vinny Savage, who operates the ‘DJ Vinny’s Disco Show’ has been inspired by the work of another local group, Defibs for Life, Nenagh, who are currently on a drive to introduce additional defibrillators in the town.

Currently, there are only five defibrillators in public areas of the town and more are needed in locations that are quite a distance from the existing life saving devices.

“With your help I hope to raise enough to provide two machines,” says Vinny, urging everyone to support his efforts. He is holding a disco show in the Hibernian Inn on Saturday week, April 29, and is hoping for a good turnout.

Already, Vinny has come up with a number of ways to donate. You can call to the Hibernian any time to give a donation, or you can make contact with Vinny on his Facebook page or by phone (087-6672666) and he will call and collect your donation.

He also set up an iDonate link that you can visit: http://idonate.ie/event/djvinnysdiscoshowfundraiser.

Vinny had initially planned to raise just enough funds to provide one defibrillator. But with so many people inspired by his campaign, funds have come pouring in and now he has set his sights on raising enough cash for two machines.

Separately, a table quiz is being held in Figgerty’s Bar on this Friday night, April 21, at 8.30pm to raise more funds for such machines in the town. Table of four is €20, and there’s a street collection in Nenagh on this Saturday, April 22.
