Ruaidhrí's mullet chop for charity

Nenagh boy Ruaidhrí O'Brien would like to thank everyone who supported his recent 'Mullet Chop for Charity' fundraiser.

Ruaidhrí had been growing his mullet hairdo for the past year before deciding to cut it off for his chosen charity, the Neonatal Unit Charity at University Maternity Hospital Limerick (UMHL).

He cut it one morning last month at Nenagh Ormond rugby club's grounds. Ruaidhrí was supported in this endeavour by Nenagh Ormond's U11 group, Lissenhall National School and Nenagh Éire Óg Juvenile U11 boys. Ruaidhrí is extremely grateful for the support received from these groups and the kind donations from everyone for his chosen charity.

He would like to thank Pam Gaynor for doing a brilliant job cutting his hair on the day. Thanks also to Ian Foley for getting behind Ruaidhrí from Day One of this endeavour and also for organising the rugby club facilities.

Ruaidhrí recently visited the Neonatal Unit in UMHL to meet with some of the Neonatal team and also the trustees of the Neonatal Unit Charity, where he presented the lodgement slip for the money raised from Ruaidhrí's Mullet Chop for Charity. In total, €1,264.50 was donated to Ruaidhrí's event. The Neonatal team and charity trustees were delighted with the amount donated and outlined that the money will go towards paying for essential equipment to assist in the diagnosis, treatment and care of the babies in the unit, and also fund improvements to the parents facilities at the unit.

Thank you very much to family, friends, neighbours, teammates, classmates, Nenagh Ormond Rugby - U11 group, Lissenhall National School and Nenagh Éire Óg Juvenile Club U11 and U13 boys, who all got behind Ruaidhrí for this event.
