Templemore happenings

Colour party standing to attention for the national anthem as the annual Easter Monday wreath laying ceremony took place on Monday last at noon at the Town Hall. The local branch of the 3 FAR Association laid wreaths in honour of all deceased members of the Defence Forces, deceased members of the 3 FARA and the O.N.E. along with a wreath in memory of Pierce McCan, after whom the local branch is named. The local Pipe band laid their wreath in memory of Thomas McDonagh after whom the band is named and also in memory of all the members of the 2nd Mid Tipperary Brigade who fought during the War of Independence. The Last Post was sounded while the ceremony concluded with the band playing Amhrán na Bhfíann.
