Feeding the world’s poorest children a meal a day

North Tipp branch established for Mary’s Meals

Mary's Meals feeds 2.4 million children one meal a day for an entire school year. This costs €22 per child per year. Our vision is that every child receives one daily meal in their place of education and that all those who have more than they need, share with those who lack even the most basic things.

Mary’s Meals is a global movement that set up school feeding programmes in some of the world’s poorest communities where poverty and hunger prevent children from getting an education. It’s a simple idea that works in partnership with local communities. We provide a meal in a place of education, bringing children into the classroom where they can find a route out of poverty.

This low-cost approach is only possible due to the large number of volunteers across all 18 of our programme countries. Volunteers here in Ireland raise awareness and fundraise to make this low-cost approach possible. Mary’s Meals work across Africa, Latin America, Asia, and the Caribbean.

While Mary’s Meals feed over 2.4 million children every school day, there are 67 million primary school-age children currently out of school globally, so we need all the help we can get. Mary’s Meals fed 200 children daily in Malawi in 2002 and now in 2023 we feed 2.4 million.

We need your help to keep this number going up. Mary’s Meals guarantees that at least 93% of funds raised goes directly towards our charitable activities.

We below have now established the North Tipperary Branch of Mary’s Meals and will be holding fundraising events going forward. We look forward to your support. There are many ways you can donate - see our website www.marysmeals.ie for more information.
