Colourful flowers at the exhibition at Nenagh Arts Centre.

Stylish exhibition in Nenagh Arts Centre

Is it Nenagh Arts Centre or is it Dior Gallery in Paris?

With the help of the local community, florists, designers, artists and volunteers, our fantastic outreach artist Sarah Thornton turned the grey, cold days of late-January into shiny celebration!

Until February 17, you will be able to see this magnificent exhibition that turned our centre into a palace of beauty and awe. The treasures on display are the dresses, suits and accessories of the rural Irish debs. While celebrating style the exhibition also raises awareness of the ethical, sustainability and inclusion issues around fashion, the debs and our own agency.

To create the exhibition Sarah engaged with over 170 people. This included workshops with groups such as Borrisokane Men’s Shed, Ashlawn Nursing Home and Enable Ireland, as well as workshops in Body Confidence, Creativity, Heritage and Modelling.

We have two upcoming events completely free and open to the public but must be booked. On Friday, February 10, 7-9 pm will be a Fun Floral Workshop led by Lorraine Malone, designer of our magnificent flower wall. Come in and get creative with a Valentine’s themed floral workshop, everyone gets to take their creation home! On Friday, February 17, 7-9pm Sarah Hayes, the exhibition’s fashion consultant and Sarah Thornton will host a fashion networking event for designers, artists and others involved locally in the fashion industry. Come along, meet others, share your experiences, and explore new creative horizons.

As soon as you enter the building you will smell the gentle scent of perfume and see a glorious, bright, light, glittering exhibition complete with floral wall, hat wall and couture. Just pop in for a visit, it’s free!
