Nenagh Lions Club Christmas Food Appeal 2022

Nenagh Lions Club is along with St Vincent de Paul a beneficiary of this year’s Nenagh Guardian Christmas supplements, with €5 from each advert being divided between the two charities.

We think we can all agree that 2022 has been a most difficult year for everyone in our community. The effects of the war in Ukraine, coming directly after the pandemic of the last two years, has created a set of economic and social challenges that have impacted on every business and household up and down the country.

Unfortunately, we also know that it is the most vulnerable in our society that are hit hardest by high cost-of-living increases in heating fuel, food, children’s clothes, transport, and education costs.

Nenagh Lions Club Christmas Appeal has raised over €70,000 in the last five years and all this money is spent locally to help families over this expensive time with necessities, and to help with children’s presents. We are extremely grateful to all the local businesses that have contributed to this fund over the years.

Again, this year we are inviting businesses, as an alternative to buying gifts for clients or customers, to contribute in their name to the Lions Christmas Appeal. Donations can be lodged to Nenagh Lions Club at Bank of Ireland, Nenagh. Cheques can be posted to Nenagh Lions Club c/o The Nenagh Guardian offices.

Dunnes Stores facilitated Nenagh Lions Club to collect outside their premises last weekend. The Lions Club will have street collections on Thursday, December 15 and Saturday, December 17. Lions members will be positioned outside Nenagh Post Office, A Sportsman’s Dream and Centra. We would be delighted to accept any donation, large or small, on behalf of our community.

To help increase awareness of and to raise funds for the club, a number of Nenagh Lions members will climb Keeper Hill in the days just before Christmas - the campaign will be publicised on the Nenagh Lions Club Facebook page. The GoFundMe link to donate will be accessible on our Facebook page.

Another contributory source of funding to the food appeal is the QR code, which will also be available this year on collection buckets.
