More Ukrainians arrive in Tipp

The number of Ukrainian refugees living in Tipperary has more than doubled since last May.

Figures recently published by the Central Statistics Office show that there were 1,107 arrivals from Ukraine in County Tipperary up to November 6. The corresponding figure last May was 533.

Most of the new arrivals (259) are now living in the Cashel – Tipperary Local Electoral Area. This is followed by Clonmel (219), Nenagh (183), Thurles (142), Carrick on Suir (124), Roscrea – Templemore (103), Cahir (61) and Newport (16).

The CSO figures are based on PPSN numbers issued to individuals from Ukraine under the Temporary Protection Directive. Of the total in Tipperary, 171 are in accommodation provided by hosts in receipt of Accommodation Recognition Payment.

Among other aspects, the CSO data shows that 141 children from Ukraine have enrolled in primary schools in Tipperary while 99 are attending secondary schools.
